Classroom Procedures and Expectations
The Basics
1. Check the whiteboard outside of my classroom for any special items or materials needed for class.
If it’s written on the board, you are expected to have it in class.
2. When you walk into the room, look for instructions projected onto the board. This will usually include a journal prompt, the daily objectives (what we’re going to do in class), your homework assignment, and possible reminders.
3. You are expected to be seated and quietly working on your journal when the bell rings.
4. Please raise your hand if you have a question or comment to make.
5. Come to class prepared! This includes pen/pencil, paper, notes, homework, and assignment notebook.
Passes
Each student has three passes to use per quarter. These passes can be used to go to the bathroom, office, phone, water fountain, library, or locker. If you want to use a pass, please pick an appropriate time in class to do so and ask me before leaving the room.
Grading Policy
Assignments are late if they are not turned in to me in class on the due date. All assignments turned in late will receive half credit. A late grade is better than a zero! Please turn in late work as soon as possible.
**An assignment that is complete, but in your locker, is late.
Absences
If you are absent it is your responsibility to ask for your make-up work. You should do this in the morning before school starts or at the beginning of class while your peers are working on their journal. This also includes making up quizzes, tests, or presentations you may have missed - it’s your responsibility to discuss a make-up date and time.
